Finland

Surrounded by the Baltic Sea, Finland has lot’s of hidden gems to explore. You can visit Lapland, Lakeland, Helsinki or the Coast and Archipelago with the most islands in the world.

So, what can you do?

• Visit the big man himself, Santa Claus! Take the kids (or the big kid inside) to the home of Father Christmas, not forgetting his trusty reindeer's. Santa actually lives in the town of ‘Rovaniemi’ on the Arctic circle and not the North Pole as believed.

• There’s no better way to get around the snowy mountains than by the lovable Husky’s pulling you along in a sleigh. Otherwise you can try the other snow activities such as reindeer rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice-fishing or skiing at one of the 75 ski resorts.

• A trip to Finland wouldn't be complete unless you witness the incredible Northern lights. Visit inside the Arctic circle and watch the amazing lights dancing in the night sky. The most active areas and seasons to see the aurora is in the north in Finnish Lapland where they can appear up to 200 nights a year, whereas in Helsinki and the south only about 20 nights a year.

• Finland is sometimes referred to as The Land of a Thousand Lakes. In fact, nearly 188,000 of them. You can embrace the nature by taking a dip in the fresh waters or if you prefer to relax and do some fishing.

• Explore Helsinki, Finland’s Capital with it’s history stemming back from the Stone Age. Take a tour to the old town of Porvoo with it’s colourful and traditional Finnish houses. Known for their saunas, even Burger King in Helsinki has one. So, you can indulge in a burger, fries with a side serving of sauna.

• According to the World Economic Forum, Finland is officially the happiest country in the world and yet it has the highest number of heavy metal bands per capita in the world. Finland is definitely a place to visit that has many hidden gems to explore.
